I have a gooseberry bush in my garden which has never produced any gooseberries. It is not dead and I can't understand why. Can anyone give me any advice on how to get it to produce gooseberries.

The American version of the classic gooseberry is dioecius... both a male and female plant is required. The European version may be the same. You may have only a male plant if it has never borne fruit. Or, conversley, if it gets small white flowers in the spring, but doesn't bear fruit, it is a female... Good luck!
