Is it still possible to buy "normal" filament 60W lightbulbs - if so where on the High Street? If they no longer exist what do I buy to replace them with in bog-standard table-lamps, light fittings etc?

Tilly....look in Wilko if you like, but they won't have the range that LED Hut has.

Be careful of the lumen value....anything less than 500-600 won't be as bright as what you have become used to.
Diddly and Tilly ( sounds like a double act ! )

This would appear to be suitable for replacing an "ordinary" table lamp bulb ::::

The angle of beam is 320°....ie nearly all-the-way-round.
Thanks again.
Tilly....only too glad to help !

LEDs have become something of a mission in life for me these last few years.

I tried to work out how much money I would have saved over the years, if I had changed to LEDs but gave up !

Also, think of those high-up light fittings, like over the stairs or a landing....fit a LED and you may never have to get the step ladder out again !

Thank you for your suggestions and links but a lot of these LED bulbs can't be used with dimmers - only the mega-expensive ones it seems.
That's life these days, unfortunately. Blame the EU.
Diddly....that is sometimes the case with LED bulbs. Its all to do with the "strike rate"

Here is one though ::::

Beware of buying the cheapest LEDs. I got some and they were a really nasty harsh light.
Hoppy....LEDS normally come in two levels of light ::

Warm or cool. Again, its all explained on the LED Hut website !

some of the bargain stores etc still stock traditional bulbs.. I bought a few in for lamps
