Opinion For Class Project
12 Answers
Hello, I'm taking a startup class and part of my homework is to get potential customer opinions for a product/service we would think of providing.
1. Have you ever encountered a situation where you needed something cooled right away? (i.e. food, drink, medication, etc.)
2. If my teammate and I made an appliance the size of a microwave that chilled and/or froze an item faster than a refrigerator/freezer, would you buy it? What would you use it for and how would you feel?
3. This idea would basically be the opposite of a microwave, and with that in mind, do you feel that this would be a necessity or a novelty?
The idea would be to combine multiple methods of freezing (i.e. small volume freezer, Peltier thermoelectric cooling, and other heat transfer methods) and package it into one item for an accelerated cooling. It's name would be...Chill Bill :)
Thank you for your time!

Also, the name should indicate is function - maybe something like "Kwik-Chill' or 'Fast-Cool' or 'Rapid-Chill' or 'Instant-freeze'
You might want to change the shape to circular/cylindrical, to quickly cool a can or bottle of drink such as beer, wine or soda.
I might also use it to reduce the temperature something I have just cooked down to room temp, or below, before putting it in the freezer.
Would it be a novelty? Certainly at first, but the TV remote was a novelty at first, though it very quickly became a necessity.
Good luck :)

No, other than ice cubes for a drink / champagne bucket.

No.
However, perhaps I would be more likely to buy a microwave if it also came with a "chill/freeze" option, so that it did not take up more room in the kitchen, especially if it did not add much to the price.
3. This idea would basically be the opposite of a microwave, and with that in mind, do you feel that this would be a necessity or a novelty?
Clearly not a necessity in the domestic market as there is no "long felt need". There may be some specialist markets (e.g. professional kitchens, operating theatres, small scale catering outlets, etc.)
