Shower Conspiracy Theory
A couple of years ago, I had a shower curtain across my bath. The shower curtain was held in place by suction - which is another way of saying that it kept falling on my head, but I just put up with that. Then water started leaking through the ceiling beneath the bathroom. I could see that the sealant between bath and wall was worn out and water was getting between them. A plumber came to seal it up but it happened again a few days later. He then told me that the bath was too light for showers, that standing in it was pulling the bath away from the wall, breaking the sealant and letting in the water. Solution - a stronger bath...
Stronger bath now installed with shower curtain in bin (no more head injuries!) replaced with nice shower door. The latter was perfectly designed to be just a tiny bit too short to prevent water escaping from the shower on to the floor. Floor covered in water, finding its usual merry way to drip to the ceiling downstairs....So, I find a brilliant solution! A shower-head that points straight down with no unwanted spray beyond the slightly too small shower door! Shower head is quite heavy however and has learned the falling down trick from the dead shower curtain now lying somewhere in a skip...I've gone back to an ordinary shower-head - perfectly designed in that it won't swivel down to a 'straight down' position, colluding with the shower door to ensure a flooded floor.
In this wonderful world of technological convenience, I've run out of solutions to a very simple problem - how to have a shower without a flood or having something fall on my head. I'm beginning to think that we never went to the moon if such a simple thing is beyond the modern world. Anyone out there who knows something to fix this - I'd be delighted! ( A fully enclosed shower would be a solution but it would come with the slight disadvantage of bankruptcy and a distinct feeling that I've been conned into buying a sledgehammer to crack a nut). Thanks for reading!

We have a shower and curtain that does not let water escape or get into the room below or fall on our heads,so does everyone else I know who owns a shower. You have just chosen a plumber who is useless and talks total bulls**t
''Bath too light for showers'' utter rubbish,if it is too light for showers how can it be able to hold the weight of water needed to have a bath ?
Get a plumber who actually knows what they are talking about. Ask round friends and neighbors for a suggestion if you can't find one yourself.

I hate showers they always cause havoc. I have an en suite in my room in which they have fitted a *** cheap shower tray which does indeed flex and pulls away from the wall and leak into the lounge, my solution is to never use it and go to the main bathroom which is a wet room, but as Douglas said, just stick a towel down, et Voila!
Dougas 9401 - the shower door is fitted perfectly but it doesn't stop the water from going on the floor, simply because it doesn't go far enough and the shower head doesn't swivel down to vertical. It's so frustrating and yes, putting down a lot of towels and mopping up after every shower is the only solution that we've been doing. Seems so daft when it should be so simple to make either the shower head or the door just slightly more matching to the reality of showering...
