It's a bit late to be asking that since it's already done. How much did you pay?
thought it was already on the ground ~ so quotes now seem a bit incidental

I've not paid anything yet

The felling of the tree is just one of the ongoing jobs being done in the garden

A one overall price was given for all the jobs

I just need to know what the going rate is for felling such a tree .
The site and situation would usually need to be assessed before you'd be given a quote - a bit difficult now.
OK just outline the spec i.e. fell tree, whats happening to stump, is it to be ground to below soil level, and is waste going to be taken of site( will need a powered shredded / trailer.
Will give you a price with above info as will others
But reading your reply again, if you have accepted a price for all the garden work to be done, is there any need to try and itemise all the individual parts of the works now?

Why is it a bit difficult now?

Nothing difficult about the site , just a flat back garden , no access problems

All I'm after is just an average price that would be charged , from looking at the picture

I expect that anyone answering would be in the trade or had a similar job done previously

I'm not trying to itemise all the individual parts

I'm just curious to know what the going rate for that particular job is

The stump is below soil level
Branches / trunk disposed of

I had a similar tree felled and taken away, although the stump was left and it cost me £225.

Hope that helps a bit.
to chop and take away I would say in the region of £200...
prices given are about right, maybe a bit less if you are disposing of all waste
Why not shop around and get a few quotes, then go with the one that you feel comfortable with.
Personally I would choose a registered/trained arborist with insurance.
I must say, it looks like a lovely old tree and its a shame it has to go.
If I was a kid, that would be my dream tree house, among the branches :-)
