Just put a toe through mine and inclined to bin it rather than darn it. I've got loads more (mostly odd ones LOL). Would you bother darning it if you were me?

I have only ever darned woollen socks/tights.

Still have my darning mushroom somewhere.
Its amaze balls what you can train a mushroom to do innit?
Totes
When I get a hole in my sock I tend to use stronger language than 'darn'.
The ladies in my village (the more senior ones) are keen sock-knitters and I have a draw full of lovely woollen socks. "In winter warm, in summer cool, there is no substitute for wool" - so the ad. once went-. Occasionally when a toe peeps through my favourite well-worn ones, I get out my mushroom and darn - and I don't mean just sewing the hole together.
Can you buy these mushrooms or do you have to catch them in the wild and train them? Not worth the effort, I can get six pairs of socks darn (geddit) the market for a fiver.
I can darn and used to darn my hisbands socks when were were at sea because you just can't pop out and buy new ones. Actually I quite enjoy proper darning.
Yep. Only recently. But they were special woolen socks that I wear for playing golf. My sister bought them for me before she passed away, so I just couldn't throw them away. I'm like that!
wear on other foot
and the hole will be opposite the pinky
lucius - you're a twonk !
Darning with a mushroom is so satisfying....granted you have to buy good socks and not cheap market ones that make your feet sweaty and pongy......
Darn properly and good socks look as good as new... :-)
music to darn by - get darn at it!
I blame Luscious and Brexit
My Mum always darned my school socks. In those days women were more practical and knew how to do such things and cook good meals as well.
We were not that well off and my school socks could only be obtained from a local outfitter so of course charged a premium price as they had the monopoly.
hey Mushroom - you look as tho - - - you're in demarnd
reg socks?
I had reg shorts ( no not gordonstoun ) and THEY were repaired on the seats with a patch like a large infinity sign ( (eight on its side)

up to 1950 - rationing - kids clothes were made up from adults' unpicked and resewn

no I am not suggesting going back to that !
retro, why should men not darn? (and cook!)
I remember my Mum darning my Dad's socks with one of those mushrooms. It was tortoishell coloured. We did live in rural Devon though...
I'd bin it.
My Mum used to darn my father's woollen socks. I used to watch but can't remember how to do it.
With socks at 50p a pair in 'Bargain Shops' is it worth it ?
Of course it’s worth it, Eddie......we need to stop buying cheap and throwing the cheap stuff into landfill.
