Just put a toe through mine and inclined to bin it rather than darn it. I've got loads more (mostly odd ones LOL). Would you bother darning it if you were me?

//With socks at 50p a pair in 'Bargain Shops' is it worth it ?//

//we need to stop buying cheap and throwing the cheap stuff into landfill.//

Where do we draw the line?
Darn our socks to save landfill? Darn ur knickers to save landfill?

Stop using deoderants, lipstick, makeup etc to save 'landfill? Or anything made of plastic!
A bit of sock fabric will quickly break down. Other stuff wont.
not if its synthetic fabric nailit...ands many if not all of the biodegradeable synthetics just break down into microscopic bits rather than actually going back to its component chemicals

Agree gness. And make your feet sweat!
I didn’t say “stop using “ Nailit. I suggested not buying and quickly binning cheap stuff.
Indeed, LB....and then comes athlete’s foot and fungusy nails! :-(
Im with you then Gness :-)
Thanks, Nailit......where I now live we have to take responsibility for our own rubbish and for disposing of it. Makes a person very aware of just how easy it is to buy without thinking and bin without thought when it’s taken away from your doorstep for you every week...x
//where I now live we have to take responsibility for our own rubbish and for disposing of it/
Where I live (in a high rise) we have NO recyclable bins, only a skip for everything. Ive never been so aware of the amount of plastic that we use. My previous address had bins for recyclables.
It really does make my blood boil when I have to strip my shopping down and dispose of all the plastic waste.
WHY?
WHY is EVERYTHING wrapped in bloody plastic?
Everything from a cucumber to a non-breakable from Amazon?
Campaign for recycling bins Nailit?

nailit what makes me mad is in my small block of flats we have two bins for recycling only as well as the usual bins. They have pictures on the outside of what you can and can't put in them. Every week I see someone has put their cardboard and paper in which is great. BUT they put in a plastic supermarket bag first!! There is a great big flipping picture telling you not to put plastic bags in. What is the matter with some people?
no odd ones ... all my socks are black ... i'm waiting 'til doris is in a good mood before i give her the pile with holes in

anybody darn socks anymore

they do, darn sarf !

we havent had that yet have we?
oh darn socks, I complewtely misunderstood the question
sozza

Albert Einstein didn’t like wearing socks. (He also could neither swim nor drive.)
he also used to shave with water
and when he had finished a gift of shaving cream,
came into the lab looking like a freddie kroger victim because he didnt have the wherewithal to get another tube.

he also did a complex calculation on oil fire consumption when the delivery man asked if he wanted any more

and Mrs Einstein came back and said - yes ach, 50% more - Mrs Finkelbaum at 54 says it will be a hard winter .......
Most socks are made of such poor thread, that they rot and make it almost impossible to darn, even if you cared to, good cotton is a thing of the past. Maybe high end wool socks.
Ladybirder (re Monday’s comments) you’re on lol.
