76 I'm sure Nical is correct but her sequence of words goes before the listed words, yet your question says 'give a word which could follow the following words'?
Captain2, thanks - you're quite right about the 'follow' in the clue. I hope it's just a typo on the setter's part, maybe caused by the word 'following' appearing in so many of the clues!
I just saw the patterns of letters and was lucky with guesses
N had to be A or I, but more likely A
ii most likely ee or oo.
and the c is likely to be a vowel and probably an I
The last word likely to be past tense= ed at the end
Then ?ood. likely to be "good", which gives the g for the first word
Then the phrase came
Lucky guesses all the way, I just picked the right alternatives.
I've always enjoyed these cryptogram type puzzles!
JJ109 - and the setter of the quiz - re 80, the quote is often attributed to that person but there's never been any sighting of it in any of his works!
76. Nical and Captain, I think that one typical answer required by the quiz is a word that rhymes with "leaven". That word follows "lady chance world estate column and sense" and is based on the sequence that Nical determined.
