Need a double plug socket ie for kettle and microwave. I have come across some of the plates being "screwless". Anybody tell me how these attach to the wall. Thanks

Think we'd need to see what you are referring to.
There's a flat plate at the front, that is unclipped and replaced after the socket has been screwed in to the back box.

mamy has provided the correct plate but I am still unsure of how it is attached, I am putting this on myself - should I stick with the screws instead of screwless.
Never seen one of those before. Interestingly the video seems deliberately to avoid explaining how you get them on and off. In fact it shows screws for which there is no hole in the front panel for them to pass. Would be interesting to see how they are fitted & removed.
You need to unclip the flat face plate, fix as normal then replace the front.
Maybe it screws on normally and one simply pushes on and pulls of a front cover ?
Ah too late. So it isn't screwless at all then ?
This is a switch but explains all the same.

jj if your existing socket is single ie takes one plug, then you would need a conversion adapter to enable you to fit a double socket. Some thing like this.

no it is a double - they call it 2 gang - anyway have seen one and it has screws, better the devil you know than the devil you don't. Thanks everybody
Question Author
LB - the wires coming out of the wall have blew the old socket so need to completely re-wire.
Oh I see. Good luck with it then.
And you intend doing that yourself, JJ?
Question Author
of course - do most of my own electrical work.

‘no it is a double - they call it 2 gang’

No it isn’t. 2 gang refers to light switches, not sockets.

zac - as long as I know myself what I need and buy
Then you need to look for a ‘twin’ socket.
Question Author
ok - thanks Zac - have already ordered one on Ebay.
