I got a new toaster and tried it out this morning but the slots were not deep enough and the top of the bread was sticking out. The bread was just regular 800g sliced and the slots were not wide enough length ways to put the slices in on their side. I'm returning it.

Are all toasters like this as I can't seem to find one one which gives the dimensions? What should I look for?

Russell Hobbs £19.99.

I buy the same loaf each week, sometimes the slice fits, sometimes it doesn't, I think the bakers use different size tins. When it doesn't fit, i just cut off the top crust.
Lidl are doing a 4 slice toaster this week.

I couldn't push the bread further down, Sharon.

Wow you must have party when you microwave something Gness.
Last time I bought a toaster I took a slice of my usual loaf wrapped in cling film to test them out. Mine is a Krups and takes a tall slice of bread.
