I have seen wasps hovering around our roof edge or the soffits area and likely above the gutter line. Anyone got any advice on how to deal with this pest? Can I seal the entrances points from out side or have to be in the loft.?

My pensioner neighbor definitely got wasp as well. I am planning to put a ladder have a look for him and seal the soffits area and do the same for mine.

If they start building a nest give it a light spray with a hose couple of times a day. They seem to think it's a rainy spot & leave.
Do it early though & keep a good distance.
Get a man in. You don't want to be up a ladder with a swarm of angry wasps.
Be very very Carefull OCN , Get the experts in, worth the money, I have been in Hospital twice for ignoring the advice I am giving you , they go for the face beware it is not worth it. Hopkirk 20.49 spot on .
rainy water as in a hose and add some detergent, American waspies hated this and soon efffed off.
you should have been wearing one of those full plastic Covid face screens, gulliver - they have their uses.
agree with Hopkirk and gulliver. I got stung twice just trying to have a look. Once was uncomfortable. The second one I swelled up like a zeppelin.
We got a man in, he sprayed them, and they transfer the chemicals to the ones out of sight, job done properly and you get to stay out of the way.
Spray in the foam nest killer Zero and then seal the plae that they are getting in with silicone so that they cannot get back in. I did. Problem solved.

Once would be the maximum time that happened for me. Just saying.
You could try putting a fake wasp / hornet's nest up in the area (you can buy them), they thinks its a rival best and give it a wide birth.
I've put one up in my wood shed and another im my conservatory and it appears to have don the trick.

Thanks for the replies and advise. I will have a look at the issue first at a distance and will judge if it is safe to do it myself. If in doubt I will call the council to deal with it.
DTC 21,24 , Thanks for the advice, you are a Brick.
Approach the nest/base site only close to or during darkness at which time the wasps are inactive. If you have a good insecticide that is when to spray it into the area/opening(s) where they go to their lair.
