Do you want the sticky out bit to be against a wall or in the middle of the room? If the sofa is going to be in the middle do you want the sticky out bit to be on the left side or the right?
It's like a 3 seater and a 2 seater joined. You chose if you want the 2 seater on the left or the right.
I couldn't have one in my living room. If I have left it'll be too close to the fire. Right would make getting in the room a bit tricky and wasted space.
If I were you I would get a two separate setees. I've never been in a room yet where the corner sofa has not looked over-powering. You can still put them in the corner, with a nice side table in between them with a lamp on.
Ok my mate fell foul of this, apparently a left/right hand return is the long side not the short side. So if you stood behind the long side, if the short side is on your left then it's a right hand return and vice versa. Probably makes sense to sofa makers!
I don't like them but each to their own. I had one in the 70s, brown and orange stripes. Enough to put anyone off
Snap! I now have two sofas - a two seater and a three seaters and no armchairs. It works quite well. They definitely aren't orange and brown like my 70s corner unit, which we sold with the house.

If the sides are of equal length then it is neither left or right,

Actually, it can only go in 1 position.
//What is a Left Hand / Right Hand Corner Sofa? A left-hand Sofa means the Chaise (Long part) of the sofa is on the left-hand side of the sofa, if you were stood looking at it, and vice versa for a right-hand sofa.//

roy, if the sides are of equal length you can have either side in the same position. One side will 'bend' to the left, the other to the right.

Bazzer...it's my sofa, my room and I'm telling you it can only go in 1 position.
pixie this is what I wrote: "So if you stood behind the long side, if the short side is on your left then it's a right hand return and vice versa. "
Now look at this picture

if I stood behind the long side then the short side would protrude on my right. yet the sofa is described as Left Hand facing, That's what I mean.
