Garden Fence Problem

I want to make my garden fence higher, but it is already about 6ft..if I get decorative panels & secure them on poles at my side of the fence,so not fixed to the fence,would this be permissible?

You need planning permission to go above 2 metres.

Unless planning rules have changed, maximum height is 2 metres wherever it is (apart from 1 metre if adjoining a highway). Having said that, applying for pp is costly and long-winded and I often explained to people that if they went over the limit without planning permission then it might be the case that the authority would not consider it appropriate to intervene if; 1 nobody complained; 2 it wasn't easily visible; 3 it wasn't much over the limit. People often took a chance on the basis of what I had explained (not advised!) and none came a cropper.
If you have horrid neighbours or your proposal would be horridly unneighbourly, then you might feel it advisable to ask the planners for advice and then to follow it.

I posted on here about my experiences before are fence height. My neighbour built up his garden using spoil from an extension. Plus decking above that. Total height 90cm Of spoil an decking above normal ground level.I drew their attention to how high the fence should be. Agreed the height before I went on holiday. Came back. The fence was higher than agreed. The total height from ground level is 3.5 metres. The neighbours keep avoiding me.
