Matching Sofa And Chairs?
27 Answers
Do you feel that your lounge furniture (sofas & chairs) should all match? We have had that for years but are moving soon and getting new.
I fancy a nice sofa but chairs in a different colour as there are quite a few jazzy colours out now but MrK thinks it will look silly, but i dont think so.
What are your thoughts?

Somewhat self-evidently, a suite of furniture should clearly be matching but if you're buying a sofa and chairs then there's absolutely no reason as to why they should have to match.
Go for it!

I'm into non-matching in recent years. I also now go for colours when choosing living room furniture, after years of having neutral shades like brown and beige.
And - just to go a step further - the two windows in my living room (one at the front and one at the side) now have non-matching curtains.
It all makes life more interesting.

Non matching is the thing now, but linked with cushions in the opposing colours of patterns, they need to be either shades of a colour or equal in gone if you are nervous. For example a mid tone grey plaid would work with a mid-tone plain, or light and dark grey. A deep tone shade works best with either other deep tones or a lighter shade of the same colour. If you are braver and like it then go and with flashing or contrasting colours. My current scheme is grey, gold and claret. Scary but it works it's a matter of balancing the colours and tones
AuntPG - well huh huh I;m oul fashioned cos my suite matches LOL.
It must be my nature that when I do go into friends with the mix matching chairs I can't relate to them so - they same out of place somehow.
However what makes me like their houses if they would put the bloody heat on. Jesus some of their houses are like fridges and I can't wait to get home to my beautiful warm home. LOL
