Breville Two-Slice Deep Fill Sandwich Toaster

Does anyone have one ? I've just bought one & want to know if its OK just to make one sandwich instead of 2, nowhere does it say so that I can find

I did it exactly as stated in the booklet which came with it, putting the butter on the outside & the ingredients 2 cm in all round. Firstly the sharp-edged geometry of the shape; those 2 triangles did not look appetising to my 'Oh so delicate' aesthetic sensibility.

Whereas real toast has a dry crumbly friable quality on one (under) side and a soft delicate one on the buttered, the toast in this one came out more like biscuit on the outside & mush on the inner.

Each to his own taste I suppose & Amazon are certainly OK about its return, sending me the labels which are printed & it's all packed to go back tomorrow.

I don't suppose anything can match cheese on toast done under the grill - I should have known that.

Just make them in a pan, no faffing.

It's probably horrible because the toast is compressed so all of air is squeezed out of it and it ends up like a piece of polystyrene.

I've got one of the Brevilles. I'll have to try and remember where it is.

I do toasties on a George Foreman grill. I had a toastie maker at Uni but didn't like the toasties cos there was too much crust.

I used to make pan fried toasties...and I'd dip them in beaten egg first...yummm.
