If so, has the agreement been cancelled? If it has not, you are still a tenant as well as your ex and I think you have every right to go into the property - you could even go back and live there if you wanted. But you should also be aware that, if the tenancy is still in both your names the landlord could pursue you for the whole of the rent if your ex fails to pay it because the liability is "joint and several".
If the tenancy was always in your ex's sole name, or if there is now a new tenancy in his sole name, you probably do not have a legal right to go into the property. It might be an idea to go to a local CAB or Law Centre to get advice on this, particularly as your ex has already involved the police (albeit making unfounded allegations against you).
I bet the lease is still in your name. Men are too lazy to deal with that sort of thing. Go in and get your furniture. Keep the text warning on your phone in case he gets violent later. Have some back up of some guys in case. He cannot do anything, it is your property and you are claiming it back.
