The scaffolding to three sides of our house has been in place a few weeks. The job was delayed quite a lot due to inclement weather. The work was completed 10 working days ago and the scaffolding has not been removed. When I ring the firm I get told "This week sometime mate" But when I ring the next week i am told "Friday this week mate. Have been busy and poorly!"
Is there a reasonable time for it to be in place? I realise that they are using our house to "store" the stuff so they can dismantle it and take it to the next job without taking it to their yard but its getting unsightly now and I'm hacked off with it.

I think you are at their mercy, unfortunately.
One consolation is that it will be gone as soon as they can shift. In a week or two it will all be over and you will be left with only pleasurable dinner party tales to share about the iniquities of this world. Is it actually causing serious problems at the moment? Apart from the eyesore it undoubtedly is?
Tell them that if they don't shift it pronto, you will sell it for scrap!!
Phone up and tell them you've had posse of traveller sorts round and you're going on holiday and would hate for it to be nicked.
Nice one doug
Travellers nick scaffolding!!?? That's a new one for me!!
We had the same problem when we had work done. The scaffolding was up two weeks after the job had finished, it depends if the company have another job to go to. They will leave it up until they need it again. Normally you don't pay for the scaffolding until they take it down though.
Hopefully you’re not paying for the scaffolding whilst its up?
It doesn't usually work like that, Tuvok.
I'll consider bowing to your knowledge of crime and criminals, Sharon.
Let me get back to you.
You don't pay for scaffolding by the day.
My hairdresser had some work done on her home which required scaffolding. The job was done but the scaffolding stayed in place. She called the company and was told it would be removed on Friday. On Wednesday, morning she was awoken at 6.00am by scaffolders removing the stuff. Although annoyed at the early awakening, she thought no more about it and went back to sleep.

On Friday, at a decent time, the scaffolders arrived to take down the scaffolding!

Oh dear.
Drives me mad too Joe.
You're right that they are using you as a store.
My guess is your builder took the lowest quote, from someone with no concept of "customer service."

"Proper" firms will take down as soon as it's finished with.
Keep bugging them............ and the builder too.
Sorry I can't help.
