Ironing

When i was in the forces, i used to spend a couple of hours every Sunday afternoon ironing what uniforms i needed for the week ahead - always with some Sabbath, Floyd, Zep or Queen blasting out of my quadrophonic set-up - volume 11, of course🎼🎵🎶

I gave up ironing some four years ago apart from anything "dressy" - having said that, I think towels are nicer and softer if ironed!  I have a friend who just loves ironing and always has a glass of sherry to go along with the task!  She's still standing at the finish!

We still iron almost everything.  Old school I think and me being ex forces and having to iron everything it sort of becomes a way of life.  If I do it then it will be done by the time OH gets up.  If she does it then it is usually when I am watching the Rugby.

Have a vague memory of it...

I honestly can't remember when I last ironed. I still have an iron...somewhere...and an ironing board. The latter may disappear in the clear up I'm doing.

Years ago I wore a lot of linen, but gave it all away when it was too large.

Today's fabrics and lack of a shirt wearing spouse have removed the need. And I don't understand why anyone irons bed linens...can someone explain please?

When it comes to ironing I try to find less pressing things to do.

I also find that ironing is decreasing.

Have a couple of pairs of linen trousers that I give a press. Although I don't bother with sheets and duvet covers, I do like my pillow cases ironed.

In about 1986 - 1988 I accidentally left an iron plugged in when I went to work.  I lived in a tiny flat with mutt number one and  it could have ended badly.

To ensure it never happened again I got rid of my iron.  😁

I don't iron as many things as I used to but still have to do linen wear, silk scarves, etc.

I am so very, very lucky.  Mr J2 does the ironing.  Began life in the Merchant Navy. When he left QE11  sent him a personally signed  letter asking him to serve her personally in the Army for a couple of years.  During that time his mum remarried a chap who ran - a launderette!!!!  Guess how he spent his leaves?

Yes, he  does the ironing.  Not too good at frills and flounces, but I'm happy to do  them.

Personal (sshh!) when I moved in with him I didn't know how to react when I discovered that he had ironed  my knickers.  Bless the man!................   He doesn't do it any more (18 yrs later).......... am I losing my allure?

Pillow cases, linen tea towels and linen and cotton trousers.

my mother used to iron everything including sox and knickers with a G and T to hand
