Flies living in the lawn.

Is there an easy way to get rid of the hundreds of flies which are living in our lawn here in Namibia. We would like to sit out in our new garden, but the flies drive us crazy!!

Might be something to do with lawn manure if it is new. You could try watering it with an insecticide but check for the other effects first. What do you think could be attracting them?
