Weedkiller - Staying On The Safe Side

How long after there has been weedkiller sprayed around garden can you go in and remove them by hand safely? I don't know much about weedkiller or gardening, but I would imagine you don't want it on your skin. But I'd like to get a head start on the weed removal rather than wait for them all to wither.

Irrespective of whether you're using weedkiller or not though, gardening without gloves simply isn't a good idea:

We need better weedkillers. Having to watch the weeds remain there mocking you for weeks, in full view of anyone passing by, while they turn slightly yellow, is more patience and tolerance than many can muster.

Old_Geezer, I completely agree! I think I'll  need to refrain myself from pulling them out though, as what the first poster says makes perfect sense :-)

You're right to stay on the safe side, I'd wear some thick rubber gloves as a matter of course, and handle the treated herbage as little as possible.
