Lamp Standard Replacement Kit

I'm looking to replace the cable and switch to my existing floor standing lamp shade.

Recommendations please

Lots available, can't recommend one but just search for floor lamp rewire kit.

Buy from a reputable outlet and it will be fine

Most lamps (even those having metal parts) are class II having no earth connection, but check the mains plug connection before buying a length of replacement mains cable - 0.75mm square cable should be OK.

 

For a cheap replacement, consider wiring an inline switch as below – or alternatively a floor/foot operated switch if you’d prefer that.

 

If the lamp has an earth connection, make sure the switch has provision (or enough space) for a through earth connection.

I should add that sometimes the wiring connection at the rear of the lamp holder can be very fiddly (with limited space) some use screwless terminals, all making safe replacement of the cable tricky.
