The simple answer is because you are an alcoholic; you can't control your drinking and you can't control yourself when you are drunk.

Of course, nothing is ever that simple.

what did they do to make you attack them?

You've got to get dry me old china.

He can't remember, TTT

I just don't accept this standard drunk's get out clause "I don't remember" - Maybe not all the details but at least a broad outline of what happened. I think they use it as a defence/excuse mechanism. In his heart of hearts nailedit knows roughly what happened.

I believe him.  Twice I have been so drunk I have absolutely no memory of several hours. It's frightening

Alcohol-related blackouts are gaps in a person's memory for events that occurred while they were intoxicated. These gaps happen when a person drinks enough alcohol to temporarily block the transfer of memories from short-term to long-term storage—known as memory consolidation—in a brain area called the hippocampus

IMO Nail's simply expressing here, and knows the causes and answer. We all feel a bit better from "talking" when something bothers us. It's a pity the funding doesn't seem available to stay in a clinic for the time it takes to get clean; and then seriously & permanently chose never to touch alcohol again; whatever depressing events occur in the future. Given the lack of cash, it's back to self help and willpower once more. Oh, and maybe a short course on anger management might help too.

Get help! This is not really a platform for your problems!

NailedIt is attempting to get help, Modeste.  He has tried very hard to be re-admitted to a detox programme and eventually he has got a date.  He derives a good deal of support from a lot of members on here, both on and off site.

NailedIt - why?  I reckon two reasons - firstly, when you are in drink you are unable to moderate your behaviour and secondly because hurt people hurt.

Why post something like this, when you're obviously drunk?

While I understand your problems, there is only you that can start to sort it out.

Whatever problems some people have, or what they may think they have, craving for constant attention and receiving that attention becomes more important than the problem its self. AB appears to be your number one stop for such attention. If you really wanted to recover from a booze problem you would have done it by now. Maybe a jail term may help? Its not to long ago that you stated that you had gone x amount of weeks dry, after all the congrats, and well dones had run out of steam, the attention turned back to, I'm on the drink again, the new run of attention restarted. All the attention in the world is not going to stop you from opening that bottle, Only you, and you alone can do that, so get on with it.

Perhaps you ought to be locked up, for your own safety as well as others'.

I feel so sorry for your neighbours but I've no sympathy left for you.

Much as the above 3 aqre trying, you won't be able to make nailedit feel any worse about his behaviour than he already does.

If you can't think of anything empathetic to say, please pass on by and leave this thread to those with more fellow-feeling.

NailedIt is physically addicted to alcohol.  He cannot just "stop".  Because of the chronic addiction he has, his body actually needs the alcohol.  If he were to try and do this by himself, the outcome could be fatal.  He needs medical intervention to enable him to overcome this.

Yes he does post when he is in his cups (heck, it is obvious he is not thinking clearly) and if he is being an idiot many people will tell him.  But it is not quite so easy as to say "you must help yourself".

Nailed has had one stint in detox; it is not unusual for people to need five or six before succeeding.

He is not a heavy drinker too weak to give up drinking. He is an alcoholic who must have supervision and support to stop drinking safely.

It is a physical dependency; it is nothing like fancying a bar of chocolate.

Nobody has their first alcoholic drink expecting to become alcoholic.

I can understand lack of empathy for alcoholics; I can't understand people choosing to read his posts and commenting when they have no interest and nothing constructive to say.

Who is "trying" to make him feel worse. I can't speak for others but I'm doing no such thing.

I'm am simply appalled that he could assault had neighbours.

I agree that there is an element of attention seeking about this.

curlyfries81 - I don't think anyone is congratulating him for assaulting his neighbours.

You are free to think whatever you like just as we are free to make inferences about you from your posts.

I'll be blunt.  Kicking a man when he's suffering isnt clever.  It's thoughtless and frankly just plain idiotic.

I've given him good advice, by giving him the truth. Nothing more nothing less. Put your problems on a social media site and you will get replies, some you will like some you won't, some will agree, some won't. Some will even try and tell you NOT to post??
