Take it from an interior designer's daughter... use two shades of a golden/creme on the wall... how? well, get artistic...
paint the walls in a very warm, honey creme... then use painter's tape (the blue masking tape) and mark of some diamond shapes... not all over the wall, but try the upper left corner (when looking at the wall), and fade them into the wall... then do one or two in the middle, maybe some near the middle/top of the right edge, depending on how big the wall is... your best bet? use a craft paint/glaze in "old gold" and that way the honey color will show through. use a sponge to daub it into the "stenciled" diamonds... and fade, fade, fade!
It really sounds harder than it is... it's SUPER simple. My mom did it in our house, and it's just that extra touch of warmth that was needed!
