I used to be of the oppinion that the more expensive, the better. However, when my quite pricey iron busted a few months back I was a bit strapped for cash. I went to Asda and got one for 5 and had intended to use it as a temporary measure, but it's turned out to be much better than my first one. It is a steam iron, is easy to use, gets rid of all creases and is lightweight. Fantastic!
It should be light, heat quickly and remain on temperature, and be easy to fill - a steam type is essential in many cases so might as well buy one because it can operate on dry function. There is not much to choose between many modern ones so buy a cheap one first, then if you don't like it you will end up knowing what you are looking for.
