How to Duplicate an old Key
2 Answers
I want to get a spare key cut for an old lock. I have the key for the lock but would like a spare, just in case. The key is the type you'd find in an old lock in a church or similar older building. So it's not the type you'd be able to go and have cut in your average high street keycutting shop.
I suspect I'll either need to find an idential key, or have one cast from the original. But where to have it done?
Can anyone help?
Thank you.

If not, do you have any local ironworks or forges in your area who might be able to fashion one for you from scratch? Another source of enqury, if you have an old parish church with one of those old fashioned solid oak doors is to ask the verger or somebody who does the maintenance there as I'm sure church keys of this type get lost from time to time and need replacing. It's an interesting question so if you find a solution, please post a new thread for the benefit of us all in future.
