Heavy rain all night - disappointingly still no water coming down water trap into our water butt. Can anybody tell us whether roof gutterings are fixed absolutely level, or whether they're fixed with a very slight incline? We're beginning to wonder if ours isn't quite level and all the water from the roof is flowing into the gulley & along to opposite side of the house where the other roof downpipe goes into the ground near a soakaway which has a small grill cover over it?

A gutter should fall between 13-19mm every 3m it runs. (apparently) :D
Which is a gradient of about -0.005. =)
WendyS - time for the ladder, bucket or water and a test then, with some assistance. If the fall is away from the d/pipe you will have to re-align the guttering to aim at the butt.
Meant to add - or move the butt to the other d/pipe....
Hi Wendy, I gave an answer to this post, right or wrong, its gone, I checked my profile, and its been deleted, basically, I had suggested near enough what nickmo has said, I don't for a minute think that you reported it, but I think one of the other two that have posted to your question have, and if whoever it was comes back, maybe they can say why.
It was not I.
and not this end either
My pretentious use of language incriminates me. To the batmobile.

There are two possibilities; the deletion was accidental--I have noticed that I can't access my subscribed threads; AB deleted your response because it was too similar to nickmo's.
In that case chaps, I apologise, but someone did, I hope they have the courage to own up, nickmo, your a bit more knowledgable about garden stuff than I, and if you've posted first, I don't, because generally I can't add anything, I know my answer was there, because I checked, but there you go
Lonnie - can't say I've noticed many instances where similar posts are deleted before they appear (I know I won't see them if they haven't been added but you know wht I mean....) as the send process is just about instant, but the whole system was fouled up earlier today - tried posting a few different replies that never got through and the site has been slow with only a few new postings at all, until about 1700hrs, so your replies may have been caught in a loop of some sort - all far to techy for me to be bothered with - I'm off to hug a tree and shout at the seagulls to get off my roof......
