My Victorian house has the original iron drainpipes - can I use a water butt and attach anything to them to catch the rain water?

I think most of the fittings on the market these days are designed for plastic drainpipes. Suggest you contact somebody like Sankey (who make water butts) to see if they have a Customer Service Department who can offer you advice.
