BUT (big but), try some on a hidden bit of coat first as it may damage the coat.
And I don't guarantee it'll work, it depends upon the type of ink.
Second but: if it does disolve the ink, it will thin and start to spread in the coat fibres, so you'll have to be quick to dab it off, then wash the stain with ordinary detergent to remove the thinned ink. So be warned you might have a thinner, but bigger stain after trying this.
Hi Two books suggest using methylated spirits to remove felt tip pen stains.I agree with Catso, be very,very careful...only do a small bit of stain to start with.
I am sure that I have seen commercial stain removers in laundry aisle in supermarkets.I may be wrong but I think they are called Stain Devils
