To deter squirrels you can put a small piece of lead inside it's ear.

We bought an electronic cat scarer (love cats - but not when they pee over the plants), paid nearly �50...bl00dy useless!! Didn't do a thing. One cat sat in front of it and was mesmerised by the infra red light!

Most people have found these contraptions useless, same goes for mole deterrants....Don't believe the advertising slogans....."Mr J from Peterborough says how marvellous and effective, blah blah blah.
