Shoes smell of rubber!

Hi
I have bought a pair of Catapiller suede shoes and they absolutely reek of rubber. The smell is so overpowering that I can't even keep them in my cupboard. I have tried soaking them in soapy water and even ran them through the washing machine!! Nothing seems to work.....please help!!

they need time, a whole lota patience and time!
Its like when you buy a new set of tyres for your car, they need to go round the block a few times before the stink fades. Good Luck.
