Can anyone tell me how they managed to get rid of moles. We have tried the silly sonic sticks (which seem to attract the moles even more), flooding their tunnels by feeding the hosepipe through (they can obviously swim like fish) and trapping - no luck yet!

Traps - the sort that go into the tunnel and close up both ends if they enter. Takes a time to fool the blighters though - they are very sensitive and astute to the attempts.
I have never done it but I think that putting brambles down their tunnels work, as they have very sensitive noses!!!

Having seen my first mole recently, I don't think I would want to get rid of them - not sure Mr Jules would have the same opinion about his beloved lawn, but I think they are cute.

Thanks to all. Will try the jeyes fluid, (tried creosote but that didn't work) they don't seem so cute when your lawn that you have slaved over is completely ruined and your decking is beginning to sink!
we used diesel on our lawn to get rid of moles. pour it on dug up mole hills. they don't like the smell. good luck
mm xx
Some chemicals will contaminate the land and will persist in the soil indefinately. Creosote for instance is very harmfull to wildlife and humans allike and is carcinogenic and now banned.
A new inovation you may like to try is a 'Solar Molar'
If you try a google search on this you will find several outlets and info to choose from. Good Luck Tbird+
my neighbour has had the same problem. apparently the mother kicks the young out when they reach a certain size and they look for their own territory. He contacted the environment officer at the town council and he laid traps for them and takes them away all free. Unfortunately he then puts them to sleep.
