Scaled up Powermax boiler - what to do!
3 Answers
Would appreciate some help here.
My 3 year old Powermax 155x boiler has consistently been plagued with scale, even though it has a factory fitted magnetic scale reducer fitted. We are just about to change our heat exchanger for the third time. I rang the manufacturers of the boiler who told me it was abnormal to change the heat exchanger every year (!). I do not believe this for one minute.
Does anybody else have any similar experiences, or, any wonderful suggestions? Many thanks.

Also try running the boiler at a slighter lower temperature, perhaps, though this flies in the face of wisdom that says a boiler is at its most efficient when run hotter. A lower temperature will discourage less of the temporary hardness in the water to cake onto the heat exchanger (which severely impacts the exchanger efficiency). Next time buy, ask around about boiler types less susceptible to it.
