electric heating
2 Answers
My husband and I have bought a high rise flat for our retirement and get the keys 15/9.problem is,there is only 1 very old storage heater to heat the place, We have always had gas central heating and have heard of a new electric boiler and radiators that works the same as the gas. This would need to be installed before we move in. This is an ex council flat and the walls and floors are concrete.Any advice would be appreciated ,as we want a system that is economical as well as controllable.

If you are of pensionable age,` you will probably qualify for a part / full grant to have the property upgraded to " decent homes " standard. This involves upgrading the heating system, and any insulation upgrading that may be required.
( one storageheater serving the whole property definately would not qualify as decent homes standard ).
Hope this helps.

Thanks Pilotlight. I have been reading up on the central heating situation that the Scottish parliament have legislated for. Although we are over 60 and would qualify, you have to have lived in the property for 12 months before you qualify. Whether this is set in stone now that most properties have been upgraded remains to be seen,so I will contact the Council once we get the keys on Friday.
Will let you know the outcome
