B & Q laminate flooring

Just bought some Floormaster Aqualoc laminate flooring. Rang up a company for a quote to fit it, they asked where we had bought it from, when we said B & Q they said they wouldn't fit it as they had come across problems with it. Has anyone bought any & encountered any problems?

I bought my Laminate flooring from B&Q, put it down myself, with a neighbour, nothing wrong with it at all, its been down about eight years now, and no problems.

Lonnie - Thanks for that. Thought I'd made a mistake with my purchase, it's too expensive an outlay to have misgiving's about. Maybe the fitter I rang just wanted to supply with their own stuff? Anyway, you have put my mind at rest!

I have bought some from B&Q in the past and never had any problems with it.
And it`s not really that difficult to fit yourself

Think the fitter just got a bag on, because he couldnt supply and make some easy cash on the materials.

Oh forgot to mention i've had it down over two years now in my kitchen. Still looks as good as new :o)

Allow plenty of time to do the job and have patience! The 'glueless' type of laminate can be tricky and can require lots of hammering into place. If you're a beginer make it a two-man job as another pair of eyes can help when lining up. Don't be disheartened if you find you have to pull a few up and re-lay them, it is worth getting them right. I have fitted both glueless and glued, cheap and expensive. If fitted with care most people cannot tell the difference. I'd strongly advise you purchase a 'fitting pack. This consists of adjustable spacers and a shaped metal bar for which to hammer in pieces acurately. My kit was the best �4.99 (from No Frills DIY) I ever spent. And make sure you have plenty of spare lengths, if you need to cut some pieces down to size a hand saw, a file, a spirit level and a sturdy workbench are essential.

Also, if the ground beneath is good and level you shouldn't have many problems. Don't try to save money on the underlay, if you get good coverage from that you are halfway there. I prefer the silver foil type stuff ther comes off a roll, it has an adhesive strip down one side so you can join it all together. After you have laid the first couple of rows you'll think to yourself it's quite straight-forward and wonder what the fuss is all about. If unsure, try a few practice pieces first before attempting the whole room.

Cloud/Zeb, we have cushionfloor down at the moment, it's been down for years & has been brilliant but now looks dated, which is why we are having a change. it will be being fitted in the hall & living room. We have bought the combilay underlay as advised. When we had the cushionfloor fited, we laid down some hardboard ourselves before the fitter came, nailed down . In the hall we have a kind of oblong well where a rug use to sit, before we had the cushionfloor fitted, we packed it out with paper & hardboarded over the top of it. Do you think there will be any problems laying the laminate over hardboard? Everywhere is nice & flat, apart from that well thing in the hall, where there is a little springyness underfoot.

my husband fits it for a living among other things ..for a room 12ft by 15 ft he would charge �60, hope you aint paying much more than that skyep

I am just going out to buy some of this flooring. I am a woman of 35 and i'm gonna fit it myself. I have fitted 4 floors before the same as these but not the aqualoc. If I can fit it anyone can! I am very proud of my floors so far : )

Laminate laid, good job done, but ripped off slightly with the final price. Never mind, lesson learned.
