how often is your rubbish bin emptied by the council? I mean the general waste, not the recyclable stuff. And what county do you live in?

Ours is once a fortnight - lancashire

Every week, Devon
Everything goes every week, Anglesey is a bit behind the times, no collection of recycling refuse.
We used to have our bins emptied every week and the blue box )glass & cans) and blue bag (paper) every fourth week. Now we have a green bin and this along with the blue box and bag are emptied one week and the normal bin on the other week. I have now got 4 bags of rubbish and the normal bin is full. When this is emptied next Thursday, I will put the bags in the bin and then have to wait two weeks before it is emptied again, by which time I will have accumulated another 4 bags. Most of the stuff in the normal bin is non-recyclable (sp?) or things which the council don't have facilities to re-cycle (plastic bags, milk cartons etc) Council Tax has gone up 7% this year, so what exactly do we get for our money?
West Dorset...general waste every week, recyclables every two weeks.
Hampshire. Recylcled and waste every two weeks alternatively. I put everything into black bags and it is well wrapped, but not keen on the waste bin being emptied every two weeks.
Norfolk ..once a fortnight.
Lewes, East Sussex.....general waste weekly, recycling fornightly

Mind you. i pay 135 per month poll tax on a pretty standard mid terrace 3 bed so i really wouldn't expect anything else.
I'm in Lancashire too.
general and recycling one week. Green waste the next week.
Co Durham Household once a week. Recycling Fortnightly and a brown bin for garden waste Fortnightly.
Telford and the Wrekin - once a fortnight.
NW London (Middlesex) we have a brown bin for garden/kitchen waste which is collected weekly at the moment until November when it will change to fortnightly. Green bin for non recyclable waste collected fortnightly plus we have a green box for bottle, cans, paper and plastic which alternates weeks with the green bin
General waste...every Tuesday
Paper...every other Tuesday,,, Tonwell, Hertfordshire
General waste and paper, weekly. Green stuff and bottles/plastic,every fortnight. I live in Bolton, I think it has more to do with your town council than county council
Once a week, the recyle stuff once a fortnight.
crisgal - Once a week, Manchester
suffolk once a fortnight
I'm also in Lancashire, yes we get our general waste emptied once a fortnight. There are usually a couple of weeks over the Christmas/New Year period when they don't empty the brown bins, just weekly collections of general waste. I think it's great that there is so much recyling going on now, it really makes people think rather than just chucking it in the bin.
General waste (Grey) Wheely bin emptied Weekly every wednesday,
Garden waste & veg (Green) Wheely bin emptied twice a month 1st & 3rd wednesday in summer & once a month in winter (not as much grass to cut ) makes sense to me.
Paper & card (Brown) Wheely bin twice a month 2nd & 4th Wednesday.
We come under the Wakefield Metropolitan Council District , Yorkshire.
