Candle Wax

I have two candles in glasses that are ready for the bin but the glasses are really unusual I wanted to keep them. Does anyone know how you can get rid of the remaining candle wax to leave the glasses clean enough to use? Thanks.

Could you put them in boiling water and "melt" the remaining wax out? Whilst it is still drippy you could scrape it out with absorbent kitchen paper?

or pop it in the microwave for a few seconds

My daugher recommended tilting the glass container onto its side, then using a hair dryer (on hot of course), allowing the wax to soften & slide out into an old bowl or onto kitchen towel.

P.S. I light candles nearly every night, 'specially now the nights are drawing in - I love the Victorian peaceful atmosphere of that!

Put them in the freezer for a few hours then take a sharp knife and the was will pop right out/off. I promise it works - I have done it many times. Then I just run them thru the dishwasher or wash them in the sink - let them dry and re-use them.

the best way to do it without hairdryers :S

is when u have finished it with the candle fill the container with hot water from the kettle the remainder of the candle floats to the top just take it out and there you go
