the other half is tampering with his headlights. what is the best glue for bonding plastic to plastic? heat will be a factor as the area that needs glueing is within the headlight assembly.

A two pack epoxy resin is most likely your best bet....the best one is sold under the trade name of Araldite.
Hi treacle - I'd recommend some sort of "Superglue" The cheap ones work just as well, but tell the Old Git to make sure the edges are clean and dry - washing up liquid worked for me.
treacle - a bit late, but either araldite rapid or clear silicone bath sealant

late paulz, but correct, last nights experiments with the headlights and the fibreoptics have demonstrated that the quick setting araldite is the best thing, the area to be glued inside the headlight was so narrow that the slow drying just got messy, the silicone will be used to seal up the casing, but again was not precise enough for the fibreoptics. thankyou all :-)
