rising damp

probably been covered but does damp rise, water does not, but does concrete draw it, i saw a brief bit of a programme about a surveyor who built house bases in his garden, in water filled tanks, to prove water did not rise, i know when i bought my house there was so called rising damp found by the survey, so the previous owner paid for the floors to be relaid with new membranes, after a few years and damp in corners, i realized that it was condensation, because its an old solid walled house, so no rising damp

A few years ago someone at work left a tap on when the water supply was cut off and the overflow couln't deal with the water - consequently flooding the building the plasterwork was ruined up to about a foot off the floor - so moisture does rise.
My last house was stone walled and had both damp and was prone to condensation - getting a damp proof course injected into the walls sorted the damp out and was glad to get rid of the house because of the amount of condensation that built up in it destroying the wallpapaer especially in the corners upstairs.
