I've just had all the old plants removed from my garden and new turf laid. The picket fence around my garden is brown but in lots of places it's gone green. Will this come off with anything or will I have to paint the whole of the fence?

I had the same problem with my garden shed going green with slime/algae from surrounding bushes - I ripped the bushes out and sprayed the shed with a solution of Armillatox available from garden centres - it will kill the slime/algae and not harm surrounding grass/plants.
It must be said the fence may still require painting after the slime has died as it will have probably eaten into it.

Thanks for your advice woodchopper, I will try this.I was going to have the fence painted in the spring anyway but I wanted to know if the fence needed to be treated first as I expect the green stuff will just come through again if it's just painted over.
May I just say how appropiate your name is for this section :-)
Glad to be of help - I should say it will take a couple of days for the Armillatox to work but it will kill the green off then you can repaint.
