We planted an ivy on the side of the house and it is now taking over. We have removed some of it and it has not actually damaged the brickwork but the brown marks will not come off., the mortar need replacing in places too. We would like to remove more of it but don't know the best way to go about it. Some one suggested just cutting of at the root and leaving it but this didn't really work.
