I have read with interest the way of cleaning toilets. We live in a hard water area and around the rim and just above the rim I think the limescale has gone solid and I can't get it off - has anyone any other ideas (unless it is calcium like the previous questions) We have a new house (well 6 years old) and it looks awful, thanks

I wonder if a steam cleaner would shift it. I use mine for most things and find it very efficient.
I live in a very hard water area and have no limescale in my toilets whatsoever. If they are cleaned every day with bleach up under and round the the rim and a given a good scrub I cannot see how it could possibly build up to that extent .Try Limelite or rub it away with a very fine grade sandpaper . Make sure you have your Marigolds on though !
Or you could try flat Coca Cola poured around and left overnight .
Harpic is very efficient for this problem
kim and aggie from how clean is your house use white vinegar , pour some on cotton wool and wrap round basin , put a carrier bag round the wool and close the lid to keep the bag on round the cotton wool try it over night
