My coal hole cover has vanished, every time it rains water is entering my cellar. I've tried placing a concrete slab over it but this has not quelled the stream.

I would be quite happy for a permanent method for sealing the hole.

They do no seem to be on sale any more lol

Geetting one made may be expensive. I am on a limited budget.

Many thanks

If it is no longer used then a bag of ready mix mortar and half a dozen bricks from you're loacal DIY shop will only cost around a tenner, simply brick it up.
Shame to seal it up though, haven't you got a salvage or reclamation place near you ? they may be able to get one, but if you are going to seal it up, you will need to shutter it from underneath first.
I've got one you can have....
God my cellar is like that too, just has like a girdle over the top of it. Unfortunately my hosue is rented and when we moved in all theyd done is placed an old piece of carpet over it which is sodden. Im moving house a week today so it wont bother me from then on. I didnt realise you could even get covers for them. i think you should just brick it up though you'llhave no use for it will you?

I live in South London does anyone know anywhere near there that I could get one?

So far I reckon the mortar mix option is going to be the best one.

Thank you everyone
