Budding plant in the cold

We've got a "tulip tree" in our back garden that was planted last year (it's about 4 foot high).

Because of the warm weather, the buds have already started to appear. I'm now worried that with the cold snap that has been forecast, the buds are going to be damaged and we won't have any blossom or leaves this year.

Is there anything I can do to protect it?

If your worried about frost damage, fleece should protect it.
Are you in America?, I ask that, because these trees are native to that continent, I think California, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for that - can I buy fleece from a garden centre?

I'm in Essex - wish I was in California though!

People always used to use old net curtains, dont know if they were effective. Then again, you may not have any.

I'm also in Essex, and yes, you can by the fleece from any garden centre, also, you can buy special fleece bags, a bit expensive, but if you buy the fleece, you can make your own, I did.
