Does anyone know how to get black shoe polish out of a carpet or do I have to buy a rug?

when we were in the army in germany, my hubby got boot polish on the carpet, tried allsorts the only thing that worked was the vodka there 2 quid a litre, wolfschmidt i think it was called, brilliant stuff....hate to think what it did to my insides tho !:-((

Not sure how it helps you tho , sorry :-((

Is polish like wax if so then brown paper over it and then and then a towell then iron over that should absorb the polish into the paper
