I used to soak mine in hotwater and bleach about an hour or so then wash in the washing machine. hope this helps. Brenda
The mould is no doubt from the residues of the soap used to shower. This would contain dirt, skin oils and fat that the soap has removed. If the curtain is then drawn to one side and left to drip dry this would be ideal "damp" conditions for bacteria to bread leading to mildew and mould.
To clean the curtain and prevent the mould from returning, try , once a month removing the curtain and washing it in the washing machine with say, half a mug of bleach with some white towels for ballast.
Immediately after showering, allow the curtain to remain across the bath to dry - this will help.
I wash mine once every 4 - 6 weeks on a fairly hot wash with some ACE bleach added to the usual detergent. Also, use fabric conditioner. This helps water to run off it (it gives it a small amount of water resistance).

If yours is getting a lot of use, maybe you could try spraying it occasionally with an anti-bacterial surface cleaner.
stick it in the washing machine but in the meantime spread it out after each shower so that it dries, this will help a bit.
Just bung it in the washing machine (whenever you notice it's starting to go mouldy) with some bleach but no detergent - it's already got enough soap clinging to it from your showering and you want to get rid of it rather than add to it!
