Wallpapering Techniques
2 Answers
What is the correct way (if there is any) to wallpaper when papering one pattern on top half of wall and a different pattern on bottom half, with border to go in middle? How do I get the end of top half and top of bottom half to meet neatly before thr border is stuck on top?

Then put on the bottom paper ensuring the bottom pieces were in line with the top. I then put on the border, with a border adhesive to ensure it stuck firmly,so that it overlapped top and bottom equally.
have you thought of putting up a wooden dado rail to split the papers instead of a border

Just a tip which most DIY books never tell you; if you're using a spirit level to transfer a level (or putting a line around a room as mentioned here) turn the level every time you move along. If you don't do this and the level is not perfectly true, you will simply continue in an untrue line, higher or lower. If you reverse the level every time, at least you will go up and down every two times, ending at the same level every turn of the tool.
When we moved into our present house the dado rail was two inches higher at one side of the bay window. They had obviously started at one side and chased an untrue level higher and higher all the way around the living and dining room!
