OH btw my Green bin is for my food waste/grass/weeds etc
Pour boiling water over them.
eeughh!

a bit of bleach at the bottom might stop them from crawling in again in future.
When your bin has been emptied give it a good wash out with a hose/power washer and some disinfectant/bleach/jeyes fluid.
You can buy a cheap bottle of disinfectant from the supermarket for about 30p. Once the bin is emptied use the whole bottle to clean it.
We have a wheely bin washing service. A small team follows the refuse cart around and wash and disinfect then
the bin when it has been emptied. They call in the evening for the money - 1.50

Thanks everyone, i have since found out that hubby put a dead bird he found in the garden in there, must be that.

Already planning to give it a good clean out, but might look and pay someone to do it!

:)
i had the same problem. i just left the lid open and the maggots exposed, within 1/2 an hour there was a cacophany of feathers and cawing as loads of birds descended on the bin and ate all the maggots! job done!
