Shower drain

Can anyone tell me how to degrunge a shower drain without using chemicals? Can I use washing soda - do I have to use boiling water as well? Is it safe on plastic drains.

Unless you can remove the trap and manually remove the gunge the only other way is to use a chemical unblocker.
Can I ask why you don't want to use a chemical? cos they are very effective and safe to use on plastic.

Why are you asking about washing soda ?
If you don't regard it as a chemical, I am intrigued as to how you classify it otherwise.
To be totally pedantic, the same goes for water.
