Does anyone know of a type (and where to obtain) a cooker guard that surrounds the whole cooker (it's a freestanding one). This is not to protect children hands - but to stop an 83 year old from leaning on the cooker and setting his hands alight !

Your local Social Services Occupational Therapy department may be able to help... it sounds like quite a serious problem. There are lots of other things to take into account , like who lives with this gentleman and whether the cooker could be resited. I understand the problem, people who "furniture walk" around the house may be okay in the lounge, leaning on a 3 piece, but I know of a person who leant on the bathroom sink and pulled it off the wall, also people who have burned themselves by holding on to radiators, which incidentally are also very easy to pull off the wall...so you see, it may not just be the cooker that needs adapting.
