Our flat roof is leaking. We cannot afford to get someone to do the work. Can we do the flat roof on on own and how? The whole roof needs to be redone. Thanks

You can but you will need to read up on it first. The library will have books on DIY. There will be internet sites to tell you how to replace the roof covering BUT there may be parts of the job that you don't have the tools/know how to complete.

Have a word with a friendly local builder for his advice or put him on 'stand-by' for when you start.

Thanks. Will go to the library and get some books first and then get in contact with a builder.

Thanks very much for your help.
my pleasure ! :o)
You could go for a temporary repair with some roofing felt & flash band where it joins the wall?
Question Author
Thanks will look at all options.
Its not a job I would recommend an amateur to attempt!! you could easily cause a lot of damage and make the leak worse. Flat roofing is quite a specialised job, be careful!!

Thank everyone for your help.

My husband did not want to do the roof on his own just in case he messed it up, as he is not good at DIY.

Have decided to get someone in to do the roof who is coming Friday.
